What Makes a City Great?
We live in a town that has stood the test of time; it is still here and people still want to call it home. What does it take to make a city or town great? This is another excerpt from Dr. Douglas Rae.
Q: How did cities thrive in the past and what will make cities great in the future?
A: A sense that the people are moored to the place through homeownership and the establishment of longstanding personal and social connections, the restoration of a vibrant cultural life downtown, leadership that effectively mobilizes government and involves organizations of governance, and regional integration that makes the City a major player in the life of a greater swath of the local population.
Question: What will it take to keep Williamsburg vibrant and attractive as a place to live and work? Please post any comments here.
